Plus-Size Dating: 5 Tips for Success
Love is in the air, and we all want a piece of it. Being plus-size should no longer be your excuse for remaining single. When you are mentally ready for love, it will find you. Stepping out of your comfort zone, and becoming more assertive doesn’t hurt either.
Here are some tips to help you in the plus-size dating game.
Keep emotions out of it until after the first date. We love to romanticize online contact and phone conversation chemistry. This time around, don’t do it. People are not always who they present themselves to be. Wait until you meet them in person to decide if they are really worth your time and effort.
Don’t be afraid to play the field. In order to choose the correct person for you, you have to date multiple people. You may even have to date them at the same time. Make sure you are giving yourself time to develop an open and honest relationship with those you choose to spend your time with. Communication is key.
Keep it in your pants/panties. Just because you’re dating various individuals, does not mean you have to sleep with them. Intimacy should be earned, and not given away freely. Do not fall into the “easy” category. Make them work for your love. You are worth more than a one-night stand, or booty call status.
Mean what you say. Do not lie about yourself. This doesn’t mean you have to tell them your whole life story. Simply be honest about your height, weight, looks, work, and relationship status. The rest will fall into place.
Stay alert. I’ve heard numerous horror stories about predators setting up potential dates, and doing vile things to unsuspecting victims. Do not meet someone for the first time at a secluded location. Always meet in a public place. Carry your cell phone. Make sure someone knows you are going to meet this person, where you’re meeting, and what time. Give them hourly updates so they know everything is fine.
You have to love you enough to know what you want, and what you deserve. Like the saying goes, what you give is what you get. So put your best foot forward, and be ready for the offers to come pouring in. Good luck!
